Markdown: Option in profile or repo so that the Enter key creates a new line

EDIT: To be clear, I am suggesting a configurable option here. Not that the default be changed.

Description

Many users prefer that the Enter key creates a new line. In GitLab Markdown, you need to put two spaces and then hit the Enter key to create a new line.

Problem: Current format makes it harder to create issues.
Use: For stupid people like me who will never learn.
Goal: More non-technical people might create and comment on issues.

Proposal

Make it an option in the Profile or the repo.

I understand that many people are opposed to creating new lines with the Enter key. That is why I am suggesting that it be an option, not the default.
If this suggestion is approved, my team and I might program it ourselves!
