When a config value changes in the DB, it requires a Sidekiq restart to pick up those new config values. The linked issue will fix the `verification_max_capacity` staleness bug, but this issue will cover fixing the rest of the dynamic/hot-reloadable config in the `GeoNode` table that can also go stale due to the memoization. This issue will also tackle some follow up work described in the _Acceptance Criteria_ below. <!--Summarize the bug encountered concisely.--> ### Steps to reproduce 1. Navigate to Admin \> Geo Sites 2. Click the Edit button on the secondary 3. Note the current configuration value 4. Change the value and save 5. Observe that Sidekiq workers continue using the old values 6. Restart Sidekiq with `gitlab-ctl restart sidekiq` 7. We should cache the values that are dynamic/hot-reloadable (using the existing L1/L2 cache in the `Geo` module), and leave static and sensitive attributes either in the DB or in memory. * See the [MR](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/merge_requests/229340) against the linked issue for an example that uses the existing L1/L2 cache. * The memoization of the entire `GeoNode` for security purposes ([why memoization was introduced](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/security/gitlab/-/merge_requests/2672)) only makes sense for the attributes that are sensitive. We should evaluate whether we even need to cache/memoize the sensitive keys at all. It's not that expensive to read them from the DB considering how infrequently we would need to retrieve them for the OAuth flow from the secondary. * Exposing the model's AR object via the `Geo` module is an anti-pattern. It creates tight coupling between the model, and everywhere in the monolith that needs to query/use Geo configuration. We should consider whether we can break this pattern by using a service/query/finder object, or some other Rails idiomatic pattern that separates the business logic from the model. This is not the primary goal of this issue, but if solving this helps solve the issue, then we should consider it. * It could be as simple as leveraging duck typing and returning a new object that only exposes the data we want to expose in our Geo module API (instead of everything that we store in the AR object). <!--If you can, link to the line of code that might be responsible for the problem.--> ### Acceptance criteria 1. Identify which `GeoNode` settings are static vs the dynamic ones. Sensitive settings (such as the decrypted OAuth secret `oauth_authentication_secret`) should not be exposed in the L2 cache in Redis (see related issue [here](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/work_items/594973)). 2. Update docs to reflect that it can take time (up to 2 minutes if we go with the recommended/possible fix) for hot-reloadable Geo settings to take effect: 1. Tuning settings: https://docs.gitlab.com/administration/geo/replication/tuning/ 2. Any other docs for Geo settings related to `GeoNode` 3. Add tests that verify caching behaviour (including cache invalidation for hot-reloadable settings when updated). If this is a fair amount of work, open a new issue to add integration tests for the L1/L2 caches. We should make sure that the model's callback that invalidates the cache is working as expected, as a minimum. 1.
