# Background During a recent [incident](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/gl-infra/production/-/issues/6369) a [roll out plan](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues/324351#roll-out-steps) was created and followed in accordance with our current GitLab guidelines. However, it is possible that the incident could have been avoided if the roll out plan had gone to a review and approval process similar to but not exactly like a Code Review process. # Recommended Change This issue is recommending adding an additional step to the [Development Roll Out Plan process](https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/engineering/development/processes/rollout-plans/). The roll out plan would need to be reviewed and approved before the feature flag is globally enabled on production. **Whatever steps we add to this process, they should be very lightweight.**
