> See full context in the [parent epic](https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/epics/6671)
When `Allow owners to manage default branch protection per group` is *not* checked, the default branch protection field is hidden from view for owners. This obfuscates what setting has been selected for groups.
### Proposal
<!-- Use this section to explain the feature and how it will work. It can be helpful to add technical details, design proposals, and links to related epics or issues. -->
Expose the field as a read-only, the locked icon and popover.
