There are two meanings in german, which depends on the environment it is used. The formal translation would be `Sie` it is used in companies or in polite way (e.g. younger to older person). The other one is `Du` which is used in personal speech, like under colleagues or friends. In general the `Du` leads to a friendlier speech and gives the software an personal touch, but it could be argued about in a professional environment. Maybe this is also valid for other languages. **What questions are you trying to answer?** Should we translate `You` into `Du` or `Sie`? **What is the backstory of this project and how does it impact the approach?** It impacts the general approach of GitLab in the specific language. **What does success look like at the end of the project?** A decision should be made, and written into a general guideline for translations.
