Group-level project templates: Show parent project in "Create from template" tab

Problem to solve

With our new project templates for Groups, users can bootstrap projects within a Group based on customizable templates. When navigating to "New project / Create from template / Group", you can see all available project templates with their context group (direct parent).

In the UI, the parent group in which this project will be created is not exposed right now. Therefore, the future namespace of this template is not clear for users.

Terms used

  • Parent group: Parent of context group, showing where the template will be created (namespace)
  • Context group: Specific group set up to hold project templates
* Parent group
  * Context group (My example template group)
    * Project (example-project-template01)

Proposal

Let's find a way how we can display the future default namespace in the container of the context group to add transparency.

What does success look like, and how can we measure that?

The group namespace in which the project template will be created is visible on the "Create from template" tab.
