Make the AI Catalog CI component the defacto standard for AI catalog item management
Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.
Agents and flows are currently managed via the UI, where there is no way to benefit from code review, approval, compliance, governance, collaboration etc. There is also a challenge around the permissions needed to contribute (group owner).
Contributor Success built a CI component https://gitlab.com/explore/catalog/components/ai-catalog to allow our customers and wider community to contribute- overcoming permission limitations and benefiting from all of the collaboration, governance, and compliance features. This also solves an internal problem with only 1 top level group owner at GitLab able to add/update agents and flows for gitlab-org/gitlab-com. I am connecting with @amandarueda to try and put some best practices into place in #583458 (closed) and hopefully start leveraging the component within GitLab.
Demo https://youtu.be/gSuvaqcSBm4 of the CI component being used to create an agent and flow using .yml files in a repository and they are automatically created, and enabled in multiple groups and projects.
When changes are pushed to the agent/flow, the component syncs the catalog items and updates the groups and projects (consumers).
Assuming we are not going to have repository backed agent/flow support in the product in the near term, we should document and promote the CI component as the defacto standard for our customers.
