In blame view the blame sidebar takes shrinks the available space to see code (as it has to). But since the new UI the bottom scroll bar for horizontal scroll is now not at the bottom of the screen it is at the bottom of the code view that is miles away.

The vertical scroll bar is visible on the right, but no horizontal scroll at the bottom:

How to scroll

As I don't have horizontal scroll on my mouse (there may be a key combination to enable it in firefox?). The only way to horizontal scroll on a long line of text is.

  • Look up the line number I am on
  • Scroll right to the bottom of the file
  • Estimate how far I want to scroll horizontally
  • Scroll back up to the correct line (if the line is really long then line numbers are off the screen and all bets are off!)

Suggested fix

  1. Float scroll bar to bottom of the screen
  2. An option to just have the code view fill the screen would be useful. Currently about half of my 28inch screen is blank if I go full screen.

Partial workaround

  • ✅ You can scroll right by highlighting a line and dragging rightwards.
  • ❌ This doesn't work for scrolling left
