Preserve User Input When Switching Between Duo Chat Modes

When users switch Duo Chat between regular and agentic modes, any message they've typed in the input field is lost. This creates a frustrating and unexpected user experience where users must retype their entire message after changing modes.

Current Behavior

  1. User types a message in the Duo Chat input field (e.g., in regular mode)
  2. User switches from regular mode to agentic mode (or vice versa)
  3. The typed message disappears completely
  4. User must retype their entire message from scratch

Expected Behavior

  1. User types a message in the Duo Chat input field
  2. User switches between regular and agentic modes
  3. The typed message is preserved and remains in the input field
  4. User can continue editing or submit the message without retyping
