Loading full issue by url hangs

I have some issues which never load when opened directly by url. So if I open the issue directly by url (e.g. directly from e-mail), like
https://git.address.com/path/to/project/-/issues/5
it never finishes loading and I only see the the description, but no comment box and spinners on the right side:
Browser console does not display any javascript error.
It works if I go to the issue list and open the issue in the popover (which slides in from the right side) and it works if I click on the arrows to open it then. But if I reload the page while in full view it hangs again.
