Repository graph loading forever / freezing when there are many commits

Summary

When scrolling down in the repository graph of any repository which has enough commits that you have to scroll down a bit, relatively quickly the loading circle will appear and not load anything new anymore, no matter how long one waits.

Steps to reproduce

On any repository which has enough commits, (I don't have an exact number on this), go to the "Repository graph" under the header "Code" (e.g. https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/network/master). Scroll down until it has to load, and wait for several minutes while it tries to load and never succeeds.

Example Project

https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/network/master

What is the current bug behavior?

The loading symbol appears, but nothing happens, older parts of the graph are not loaded, no matter how long one waits.

What is the expected correct behavior?

Older commits
