Editing a comment on a commit in an MR deletes the comment

When I go to a commit and leave a comment there and this commit is part of a merge request, the comment is shown there as well. So far, so nice. When I then edit the comment in the merge request, not the commit itself, the comment disappears. I assume, GitLab tries to link the comment to the merge request now instead of the commit and gets confused halfway through. I can see that editing a commit comment in a merge request while not knowing that said comment is also shown in other merge requests can lead to confusion, but instead of deleting the comment, maybe a note would be more helpful.
