Add contributor recognition and rewards information to translation documentation

Problem to solve

As a translator contributing to GitLab through Crowdin, I want to be informed about available recognition and rewards programs when I start contributing, so I don't miss out on opportunities to participate in the contributor platform.

Currently, GitLab's translation documentation only mentions creating a Crowdin account but does not include information about the contributor recognition system. I recently discovered that GitLab announced three months ago in a Crowdin discussion that translators can link their Crowdin and GitLab accounts to participate in the contributor platform's leaderboard, achievement level system, and rewards store.

Intended users

  • New translators who are just getting started with GitLab contributions
  • Existing translators who may have missed the Crowdin discussion announcement
  • Community contributors interested in recognition programs

User experience goal

The user should be able to discover information about GitLab's contributor recognition system and account linking process directly in the translation documentation, without having to stumble upon it later through separate channels.

Proposal

Add a new section "Contributor Recognition and Rewards" to the translation documentation (after the Crowdin account creation section) that includes:

  • Information about GitLab's contributor platform with leaderboard, achievement levels, and rewards store
  • Clear instructions for linking Crowdin and GitLab accounts
  • Information about how the recognition system works
  • Links to relevant resources and the mapping form

Further details

Current situation:

  • Important information about contributor recognition was only announced in Crowdin discussions
  • New translators may contribute for months without knowing about the recognition system
  • There's no clear pathway from the documentation to the contributor platform

Impact of missing information:

  • Translators miss out on recognition for their contributions
  • Reduced engagement due to lack of awareness about rewards
  • Inconsistent information distribution between documentation and discussion channels

Permissions and Security

This change only involves adding documentation and does not affect user permissions or security.

Documentation

This issue addresses updating the translation documentation to include comprehensive information about contributor recognition alongside the existing Crowdin setup instructions.
