Problem to solve

Further details

I would like to link to the page: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/ci/variables/predefined_variables.html with an HTML anchor that takes the reader to the top of the CI_MERGE_REQUEST_* variables. This would be so that I don't have to explain "search for 'CI_MERGE' on this page: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/ci/variables/predefined_variables.html"

It seems this might be a need for the other prefixes on the list - which essentially amount to "classes" of variables.

It is not easy to deep link the various classes of Predefined CI variables.

Proposal

Be able to deep link a class of Predefined CI variables like this: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/ci/variables/predefined_variables.html#CI_MERGE_REQUEST

Break up the single table into multiples that follow the prefixes (classes). Use a regular HTML heading above each - which will automatically make an anchor that can be linked.
