LDAP Group Links UI error for a single user

A customer's instance has a single user that's having trouble searching for LDAP groups on the Group Links page (/groups/<group_name>/-/ldap_group_links). When this user searches for a group, the box continues to say Searching.... When this happens to the user, the developer console yields the following error:
Every other user with access is able to search successfully, finding groups with the same group names. Impersonating that user creates the same problem, and the problem goes away when returning to a different profile.
