Weight and progress information in epic
Release Notes
You can now easily see the overall progress of an epic based on the weight completion of its child items. This new progress rollup in the hierarchy widget makes it easier to understand the full scope of work for an epic and track progress as you go.
Summary
As a user of Epic,
I need to be able to understand how big a collection of work is and its current progress easily,
So that I can plan properly and assign the proper resources.
On an epic, we want to know how much work is associated with it, and how much work remains to be done. So we solve that with these ideas:
- Total combined weight of epic, including all sub-epics and issues
- For each sub-epic, view its total combined weight and total number of issues
- The design should also consider issue counts, and also include those analogously
- Design should show percentage complete / remaining, especially if using weight
