Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.

Context

https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/ux-research/-/issues/3143+ results indicate that users want easier access to secrets within their workflows, dashboards, and control panels. Currently, referencing secrets in pipeline configurations requires manually looking up secret keys in Secrets Manager, which interrupts the workflow.

Problem to Solve

  • Users have to leave the Pipeline Editor to look up secret keys, causing friction.
  • Lack of an integrated way to reference secrets directly in the editor.
  • Improves efficiency by allowing seamless access to secrets without disrupting the workflow.

Proposal

  • Introduce a reference shortcut for secrets within the Pipeline Editor.
  • Provide a drawer within the editor that allows users to search and look up secrets without leaving the page.
