Update Refinement Process

Why

We want to improve our estimates. These are done during the refinement process.

What

Summary: We need to document our current process, decide what we want to try differently, and compare results.

  • collect initial data on our Say/Do ratio over milestones so we have an initial dataset to compare against later. Document this.
  • make sure our handbook page is up to date on the current Refinement process
  • identify areas in the process we might change to positively impact our estimation accuracy
  • document a hypothesis/experiment in the handbook to try out
    • describe what we're trying
    • include start and end dates
    • when done, analyze data and feedback to see what impact the experiment had
    • decide to continue as-is, iterate, or abandon the hypothesis

Doing this in a data driven and handbook first way will give us insight into the impact.
