Product Design Spike: Contextual Discussions for Wiki Pages

Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.

Overview

This proposal suggests implementing contextual discussions directly within our Wiki Pages to increase collaboration, reduce information silos, and make knowledge sharing more dynamic.

Problem Statement

Currently, discussions about Wiki content happen across various channels (Slack, email, comments in documents, meetings), as well as Wiki comments at the bottom of the Page, leading to:

  • Fragmented conversations
  • Loss of valuable context and insights
  • Difficulty tracking decisions about content
  • No clear connection between discussions and the content they relate to
  • Reduced collaboration potential

Proposed Solution

Implement an integrated contextual discussion system within the Wiki that allows users to:

  • Comment on specific sections of content
  • Start topic-based discussions tied to particular pages
  • Receive notifications about discussions on pages they follow
  • Easily view all active discussions in one central location
  • Tag team members for input on specific topics

UX Proposal Requirements

  • Create mockups of the contextual discussions UI
  • Evaluate technical implementation approaches
  • Define MVP features vs. future enhancements
