Remediating default text editor workflow challenges

Problem to Solve

In Text Editors Default Setting (#423104 - closed) • Himanshu Kapoor • 17.7 • Needs attention we added a user setting for default text editor. This change caused disruptions in workflows, as users were defaulted to an options and unaware of where to change it back (in settings under preferences). We require a solution that creates a more seamless workflow.

Proposed Solution

• Remove default from settings under preferences and instead default to whichever users click in the text area, either plain text editing or rich text editing.
  • We weighed this option with two others:
    • Other Option 1: Revert to previous state
    • Other Option 2: Add a popup that indicates where users can adjust the default.
