Option to Exempt Specified Repos from an Approval Policy

Problem to solve
I have a large Ultimate, SaaS customer who is requesting this feature due the following use case:
Today you have “Prevent approval by author and prevent approvals by users who add commits” at the root group level. If you de-select that choice, it will now apply to all repos.
The way it works right now is I have to de-select those 2 check boxes > Run an API command to re-apply it to all the repo’s except 1 in this case. Plus, all future made repos will be off by default because you can’t control this setting at the group level (which would be much preferred).
Proposal
The ask is that there would be an option to say essentially “On by default but configurable” in order to make exceptions for specific repos from the defined approval policies.
