Update license availability of Epic color feature
Summary
Currently, there is an inconsistency in the licensing tier for the Epic Color feature between the legacy and new epic experiences:
- Legacy epic experience: The ability to set an epic color was available to Premium tier users.
- New epic experience: The ability to set an epic color is restricted to Ultimate tier users, as indicated in the documentation.
This inconsistency has caused confusion for Premium users who previously had access to this feature under the legacy experience but lost access in the new experience.
Proposed solution
To maintain consistency and align with the previous access level, we will update the licensing tier for the Epic Color feature to be available at the Premium tier in both the legacy and new epic experiences.
Scope of work
- Update licensing code: Adjust the licensing so that setting an epic color is available to all Premium and Ultimate users.
- Validate the changes: Ensure that the Epic Color feature is accessible for all users with a Premium+ license.
- Update documentation: Reflect the new licensing rules in the relevant documentation to prevent further confusion. (docs)
Expected outcome
This change will restore access to the Epic Color feature for Premium users and ensure a consistent experience between the legacy and new epic experiences. It will also reduce confusion and align the feature’s availability with historical expectations.
