Feedback issue: notifications prototype
Overview
grouppersonal productivity is currently working to mature the To-Do List experience. We're doing this for two main reasons:
- To address user feedback on the existing experience, raising CSAT and improving weekly user retention
- To provide the tools necessary to triage notifications more efficiently ahead of introducing more in-app notifications
Some of the interactions that users want have been difficult to explore solely in Figma, so we've created a prototype to allow you to try out our ideas with your existing list of to-dos. We want your feedback on the concepts explored here so we can refine them ahead of bringing them into the product.
Instructions
- Visit https://notifications-prototype-jtucker-gl-4ed2404874f9f9253e842f79e796.gitlab.io/
- Click "Log in with GitLab". You will be prompted to authenticate with an OAuth application set up specifically for this prototype. If you are uncomfortable with the scopes requested, do not continue.
- Explore your to-dos in this new experience!
- Provide feedback by commenting on this issue.
Feedback requested
Please mention how many to-dos you had when you viewed the prototype!
-
Grouping: You can group your to-dos in a variety of ways by using the "Group by" control in the page header.
- Which ones are most useful?
- Which ones are less useful?
- What other ways would you like to group to-dos?
- What impact do these various options have on your efficiency when triaging to-dos?
-
Preview drawer: You can click on any to-do in the list to view the associated discussion in a drawer.
- How does the preview drawer impact your efficiency when triaging to-dos?
- What additional information do you need in this preview to be able to understand the context of the to-do?
- What would you want to see in a drawer for to-dos that do not represent a discussion? (e.g. assignment, review requests)
-
Ability to comment from drawer: When viewing a discussion in the preview drawer, you can reply to the discussion directly from within the drawer. Note that this comment box doesn't use the full GitLab rich text editor, so it doesn't provide markdown previewing or autocomplete. We would certainly use the full experience when bringing concepts from this prototype into the product.
- How does the ability to reply to comments from the drawer impact your efficiency when triaging to-dos?
- What other actions would you like to be able to take from the preview drawer?
