caching problems after updating self-hosted GitLab ee to 17.1.2

Summary

We updated our self-hosted EE GitLab instance from version from 17.1.1 to 17.1.2. After the update, we ran into caching issues:

  • when trying to create a new MR for a new branch, the wizard says "Source branch 'feat/dummy' does not exist"
  • when pushing commits to an existing branch & MR, the pipeline doesn't trigger and the commits don't show up in the commits tab

The data, however, is present on GitLab. For example, the branch with all commits is visible on GitLab. To temporarily fix the problem, we refreshed the redis cache using sudo gitlab-rake cache:clear. However, the issue still persists and keeps occurring. Furthermore, creating MRs via gitlab cli works.
