[AI pattern] Guidelines for AI calls to action in the product
Outcome
Closing this issue as guidelines have been documented: https://design.gitlab.com/patterns/duo-calls-to-action
Note: related issue of feature names being inconsistent is still open: #469061
Context
This issue explores creating guidelines for AI calls to action (buttons, links, etc.) including:
- Iconography
- UI copy
- Placement of CTA
Goal
- It's clear that a call to action will trigger an AI powered feature
- It's clear what will happen when a call to action is initiated
- I can find information about the AI feature because it's consistently named in the marketing material, documentation, and the product
Audit
- We are not consistent between the marketing site, documentation, and product in what we call features
- We are not consistent in iconography use
- We are not consistent in signaling feature maturity in the CTA
Proposed plan
- Work with technical writing on proposed copy changes to existing calls to action
- Develop UI guidelines of different CTAs e.g. icon use
- Document UI copy and guidelines for CTAs
