Rename file using "Edit single file" doesn't work

Summary

Rename a file using the "Edit single file" doesn't work anymore.

Steps to reproduce

Select a single file in a repository -> Edit -> Edit single file -> change the filename to the right of the current branch -> press "commit changes" Gitlab community Version 17.0.1

What is the current bug behavior?

i get an empty commit with the error message: "<new_file" does not exist on <branch_name>"

What is the expected correct behavior?

get a commit with rename
