Improve guidelines on discovery of Product Usage Data for Product groups
Problem
As evidenced by comments such as #452133 (comment 1879425350) and the general feedback the push for more instrumentation through https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/gitlab-OKRs/-/work_items/6948 is getting, there's a lack of knowledge around how to use the collected events and metrics.
This takes the form of not being familiar with what is the best way to access the collected events in general or also not knowing what advanced usage is possible right now, such as building funnels, that might not have been possible in the past.
This lack of widely distributed knowledge can lead to an expected push back on adding instrumentation, since the benefits of having access to more event data is not apparent if the assumption is that it's hard to access and make sense of it.
Desired Outcome
Ideally, every PM and developer has very clear and easy guidelines to access the results of added instrumentation including information on:
- what kind of graphs / dashboards they should look at by default
- what is possible on a self-service basis
- what advanced possibilities exist, e.g. by asking the Product Data Insights team for help
