Expanded options for sorting your Roadmap
Release Notes
We expanded the epic sorting options available in the Roadmap view, providing you more flexibility in organizing and prioritizing your projects. You can now sort epics by Created Date, Last Updated Date, and `Title. This enhancement lays the groundwork for even more advanced sorting capabilities in the future to help you manage epics more dynamically.
Summary
Currently, Roadmap is limited to sorting epics by Start and Due Dates, which restricts users' ability to organize and prioritize epics based on varying project needs and metrics. This limitation can hinder efficient project management, as users are unable to quickly view and arrange epics by other relevant criteria such as creation date, last updated date, popularity, label priority, or other custom-defined metrics that might be crucial for managing complex projects.
This enhancement aims to expand the sorting options available in the Roadmap. By incorporating additional sorting capabilities like Created Date, Last Updated Date, and Title, we can provide users with a more flexible and powerful tool to manage their projects effectively.
Additionally, this enhancement seeks to lay the groundwork for even more advanced sorting features in the future, such as Combined Weight, Progress Percentage, Number of Assigned Issues or Sub-Epics, and Custom Priority Sorting. These features will further enrich the user's ability to manage epics dynamically and with greater precision, ultimately leading to improved project outcomes and productivity.
Expanding sorting options will enhance user satisfaction by providing more flexibility in managing epics, potentially increasing the usage and reliance on GitLab for project management tasks.
User Story
As a project manager using GitLab, I want more sorting options for Epics in both the Epic List and Roadmap views, so that I can better organize and prioritize my project tasks according to various criteria that align with my project's needs.
