Remove the "Get Started" page (Step 7)

Summary

The 'Get started with GitLab' page is currently Step 7 in our free/trial registration flows on Gitlab.com

Initially this page was introduced as we needed to load/configure the account. We moved all of those things out or into the background last year. This page is only serving as a way to give the user some info and make them click more at this point.

In our recent usability tests, most users didn’t understand the purpose of this step and were surprised they had to click through “one more thing” before getting into the actual product.

Solution

In order to reduce the number of activities we ask a user to complete during registration, we would like to remove this registration step and expedite the time it takes a user to arrive in the GitLab product.

Note: It is known that removing this step will disrupt the data populated on our Gitlab.com Registration Funnel Analysis Tableau resource. We will work to resolve dashboard issues after this step is removed.
