Markdown enhancements to blockquotes
Proposal
Whilst GLFM is good and has some nice extended markdown features there are enhancements on other platforms that would benefit users here and improve the readability of markdown files. In particular alerts which are used in order to highlight blockquotes and show their intended purpose.
My proposal is that we build a method of having a different coloured left hand vertical bar for the blockquote, highlighting it in a different way depending on how you define it. The other sites use a format like this to define different visual clues to what the blockquote means.
> [!NOTE]
> Useful information that users should know, even when skimming content.
> [!TIP]
> Helpful advice for doing things better or more easily.
> [!IMPORTANT]
> Key information users need to know to achieve their goal.
> [!WARNING]
> Urgent info that needs immediate user attention to avoid problems.
> [!CAUTION]
> Advises about risks or negative outcomes of certain actions.
We could also add the extra following alerts to extend this and enhance this markdown offering.
> [!ANNOUNCEMENT]
> This could highlight a new feature for example
> [!RELATED]
> Highlight that this information is related to another section in the documentation
> [!DEPENDENCY]
> Used to highlight information about a required dependency
> [!COST]
> There is a cost associated with doing these actions (useful in FinOps)
> [!SUSTAINABILITY]
> Highlight a section that relates to running your code in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly fashion
A good solution would be to assign a unique coloured left hand vertical bar which signifies the context of the blockquote and maybe shade the text background in the blockquote section itself with a lighter shade of the bar colour to create a visually appealing and intuitive document. Another nice to have feature would be to add relevant icon to the blockquote yet again adding a visual clue the significance of it's content.
I know this would make my life creating technical documentation a lot easier as I'd be able to express my intentions to the reader of the document in a way that is more defined than a simple blockquote.
