Big gap in search/filter bar when unmounting and remounting the component

To reproduce:

1. visit https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/tracing
2. In the filter bar, add Status = Error and hit Enter

Update:

The issue on the tracing page is not reproducible anymore, after we made changes where the search bar is now always shown (it used to be replaced by the loading icon while searching ).

It seems that unmounting and remounting the search bar is triggering the big gap issue.

The metrics search page on the other hand is still replacing the metric search page with a loading icon, and when it's rendered again the big gap is shown.
