GitLab Duo Code Suggestions should support Markdown (completion, generation)
Release notes
Problem to solve
Technical documentation is often written in Markdown, similar to blog posts (e.g. on GitLab.com).
Next to generating documentation from source code, user-facing documentation requires human writing.
GitLab Duo Code Suggestions can generate Markdown docs, when they think that they are in a Ruby file context. I used that workaround with the old GitLab blog.
Proposal
Code Suggestions should be able to assist in making documentation writing more efficient.
- Test whether the LLMs support Markdown implicitly (directly, or through a specific prompt)
- Enable file suffix support for
.md
