Option to revert to "old navigation" gone after update to gitlab omnibus 16.6.7

I very much dislike the so called "modern navgitation" in gitlab. Before todays upgrade to gitlab omnibus 16.6.7 I could opt out and use the old navigation. Now it is gone. I do not understand why one had to change a clean, easy to understand UI. I would be very happy, if one could still decide to use the old navigation.
