Proposal
On self-managed instances, administrators can moderate users. The screen they get presented doesn't work for generic user questions. Let's say you get a support request from a user that can't login, then you need to figure out what the problem is with that user. On the user moderation screen, you then want to search for the user.
The current screen displays users based on certain attributes. But if you are trying to find out the problem, you don't know yet under which tab to look. But every time you switch tabs, the search field is empty. For administrators and support, this is very frustrating and costs a lot of time.
The proposal is two-fold:
- As the bare minimum, it would be super helpful if you can make sure the search field is not emptied when you switch tabs.
- The best result would be to remake this screen with actual filters so you can search for users and select filter options to only show users that are e.g.
blocked, external, etc. This would also require the page to be paginated so that you are not loading 10,000+ users on one screen. This remake would make it possible to combine filters rather than filtering on only one attribute.
In large instances with 10,000+ users, it happens many times a day that people ask for support with their account. If you then constantly need to search again for the same user to find out the problem, it can take up to several additional minutes per ask which adds up to many hours a month of wasted time.
