Navigation Change proposal: Add entry for Model registry
Proposal
Add an entry for Model registry ( &9423 (closed)) to the side menu as a secondary item, likely under Deploy. Model registry aims at simplifying Data Scientist workflow by providing them an easy way to manage their machine learning models.
Justification
The model registry is net new capabilities that serve AI/ML use case but are distinctive from the container and package registry. There is no way to surface this functionality otherwise, as it is net new functionality targeted at a new user persona. This is aligned with the FY24 Product Theme: Data Science for GitLab. Additionally we have been building JTBD based on customer calls though Category:MLOps currently has no designer support.
Other locations that were considered
- Package registry is related, but this is focused on Machine learning
- From within Model experiments (under
Analyze), but Model registry will eventually absorb Model experiments
