Docs feedback: Clarify "upgrading … RDS … to a suitable version"
On https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/administration/postgresql/external.html we write mention
upgrading your RDS instance to a suitable version
- Do we mean the same thing there as AWS means with "suitable"?
- Also, they recommend to "Test your applications and workload on the new minor version". Presumably, that means GitLab needs to have been tested (by us) before we can recommend that customers upgrade their RDS instances to an available RDS instance, doesn't it? OTOH, we only list GitLab versions "where a significant change happened … regarding PostgreSQL versions" on https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/administration/package_information/postgresql_versions which could be taken to imply that non-listed, newer PG versions are OK to use.
In https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/USER_UpgradeDBInstance.PostgreSQL.html#USER_UpgradeDBInstance.PostgreSQL.Minor AWS mentions that they run "post-upgrade checks" and don't talk about "suitable" as in the blog post.
Essentially: Should we address RDSs "automatic minor version upgrades" in our docs. cc @aqualls @rogerwoo
