Establish A Long Term Support (LTS) Release

We're happy to announce the availability of a Long Term Support (LTS) release for our self-managed customers. This LTS release will help customers with challenging regulatory, security, and/or compliance environments ensure that their teams can reduce the time spent doing minor version upgrades.

Problem to solve

Some customers that have large instances that operate in high regulatory, security, and compliance environments. This environment makes it very challenging for customers to keep up with the monthly release process if they want to stay within the window for releases that receive security and bug patches (N-2).

Proposal

Create a single LTS release per major version that will continue to receive bug and security updates.

Intended users

Customers in high regulatory, security, and compliance environments (many of US Public Sector customers)
