Rich Text Editor breaks valid URLs with `_-` by escaping the combination
Reported by @ofernandez2 in Slack (internal)
Hi team, I’m seeing something very odd when editing descriptions in this Epic using rich text editing:
- 2 weeks ago somehow the URL under “program overall status” was updated to add a backslash
\
which I don’t recall adding (see edit). It’s right before a_
in the URL- Since then, each edit just adds more backlashes (
\
) (see this edit, this edit, this edit, etc. )- I just now tried to update the link and remove all backslashes (the URL doesn’t have any), but the editor seems to have added one anyway. I then updated again using plain text editing, and that worked.
Has anyone else ran into this issue of the rich text editing in an epic description adding unnecessary backslashes and breaking URLs?
Examples are included in &11166 (comment 1505064152).
Summary
The Rich Text Editor escapes the combination _-
in URLs. This causes the insertion of backslashes that break the URL in things like Google Docs links.
Implementation Guide
This should be a relatively straightforward fix. There are likely to be other exclusions to the code that escapes URLs that can be extended.
