Consider removing "auto-save" feature from user preferences

Sort of unrelated here, but the color theme and highlighting theme automatically apply and reload the page, whereas the other settings require a Save. We show the sticky Save button regardless which could get confusing.

Wondering if the boring solution would be to remove the automatic application of color settings and instead require a Save 🤔 What do you think? (no action required here in this MR; just thinking out loud 😄)
