Documentation Update/Clarification for Setting Up GitLab Runner on MacOS
Problem to solve
Feature: GitLab Runner on MacOS
While reading the various documentation for setting up a MacOS GitLab Runner to build iOS applications, I was confused by an inconsistency between documents on how to setup the GitLab Runner service on the Mac.
Doc1: https://docs.gitlab.com/runner/install/osx.html This document states that the "official" method for installing GitLab Runner is to download the binary:
However, Doc2: https://docs.gitlab.com/runner/configuration/macos_setup.html Instructs to use Homebrew to install GitLab Runner. Which, is an alternative method mentioned above, but is not the preferred/supported
Proposal
I understand Doc1 to be the "authoritative" document on installing GitLab Runner on Mac. Therefore, I suggest two possible updates to Doc2 to better align. I think Doc2 should separate installing GitLab Runner from the steps to install Homebrew and rbenv into its own section before hand. That separate section could simply link to Doc1 above with a simple sentence such as: "GitLab Runner can be installed by either downloading the binary or using Homebrew. For more details on how to install GitLab Runner on MacOS, please refer to ."
