Gitlab CI - Run Pipeline: most recent pushed branches not visible anymore in branch selector

I am using a paid self hosted version of Gitlab. It is running 16.0 now. Since very recently the Run Pipeline page branch selector does not sort anymore on most recently pushed. I now need to actually type in the branch I want to run a CI Pipeline for, cause the recently pushed branch doesn't even show up in the 20 branches that it now shows. I think this is a regression cq unwanted behaviour.

Please fix this.
