Access epics and roadmap for public groups on free GitLab.com
- For the free GitLab plan (and all plans above), a public group will have access to the epic feature.
- Any public epic will pull in all issues from all projects (respecting existing product visibility constraints) in that group.
- That means if you have access to any private projects in that group, you will be able to see those private project issues on the epic. We won't go to the trouble of doing special work to hide that.
- This is inline with the idea that public groups (used by open source projects) should get the Gold Plan features, even though they are using the free plan.
- This means that someone could potentially create a bunch of private projects on free plan of GitLab.com, and use group epics to manage their work. This isn't really in the spirit of what we want with open source projects. But we won't go to the trouble of adding the restrictions because it's unnecessarily complex and a high cost to maintain. So we will not encourage this behavior. But we won't specifically prevent it either.
