Jira integration menu from UI should allow testing a configuration set via API
Problem to solve
The Jira integration menu from the UI should allow a user with access to click the "Test settings and save changes" button in order to test a configuration that was previously set.
Intended users
- Sasha (Software Developer)
- Devon (DevOps Engineer)
- Sidney (Systems Administrator)
- Sam (Security Analyst)
Further details
The Jira integration menu from the UI should allow a user with access to click the "Test settings and save changes" button in order to test a configuration that was previously set. This comes in handy when testing scripts that set-up that integration from the API. Currently this is not possible as the "Password" field is blank upon opening the Jira Integration page and needs to be filled in if one is to click the "Test settings and save changes".
Proposal
I propose that the "Password" field be masked and should contain the previously set password (by API or UI) to make it possible for a user to click the "Test settings and save changes" button and in so doing, validating a previously set config. The "Password" field should be blanked upon any change in any of the fields on the page.
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
A user should be able to set the Jira Integration configuration and then later to click the "Test settings and save changes" button from the Jira Integration page to validate the config.
