Switch from viewing code changes side-by-side to inline and back causes crash

Summary

In merge request Changes tab, switching from "Inline" to "Side-by-side" view or vice versa causes the page to freeze. I have to refresh the page, sometimes multiple times, to get the desired behavior.

Steps to reproduce

Open GitLab in Google Chrome browser. In a merge request go to "Changes" tab. Click the settings icon (next to "expand all"). Under "Compare changes" select "Inline" or "Side-by-side", whichever is not currently selected.

What is the current bug behavior?

When I select "Inline" or "Side-by-side", the page freezes. After a wait, a "Page Unresponsive" window appears in my chrome browser.

What is the expected correct behavior?

The code view should switch from Inline to Side-by-side view or vice versa.
