Feature: Add user state to member list of projects or groups
Problem to solve
User state (deactivated for example) is not displayed on the "members" tab of groups/projects. This can lead to confusion. In this particular customers case they were dealing with inherited group membership of a user. They were trying to promote the user via the "Invite Members" tool, and were unable to find the user due to them being deactivated.
Proposal
Submitting on behalf of a GitLab Self-managed user:
All displays of the displayname/username/email shall be marked with "deactivated" or similar, so GitLab managers can quickly understand why they cannot change the roles and reactivate the affected users again. In addition, deactivated users shall show up in (autocomplete) search boxes within member management areas (for group/repository owners and actual admins) and labeled as "deactivated" (or similar).
Proposal
Use case: Quickly understand user status at a glance.
Impact: Allows for clarification of user status across groups/projects. Reduction in tickets raised for user status related issues.
