A QQ: Do you mean to add the logs to the activity section on the profile or System notes on the issue?
Like, for example, we have one when someone adds or removes a zoom link from the issue. They appear on the issue as system notes. I guess you meant logs on system notes. Wanted to confirm.
@rkadam3 - thanks for checking in on this - and for picking this issue up!
I think we'd probably want to follow the existing zoom system note, and be specific about what kind of link we're adding, as I'm guessing that will ultimately result in a more useful system note.
So, I'd vote for the second option. But, I don't think we need new in there? Also, wonder we we could shorten the system note a bit? For adding a link, perhaps we could try:
@username added a <link_type> link --> and populate link type with Zoom or Slack, if we detect that the link is to either of those places
@username added a resource link --> if it's not a Slack or Zoom link, maybe that's when we could just say resource link? So this would be the format for everything else?
For removing:
@username removed a <link_type> link --> and populate link type with Zoom or Slack, if we detect that the link is to either of those places
@username removed a resource link --> if it's not a Slack or Zoom link (for everything else)
Thoughts? If you're okay with these suggestions, let me know, and I can add them to the issue description
@abellucci@ameliabauerly - This seemed like good feedback related to Linked resources and also seemed like low-hanging fruit to me so raised - !96937 (merged) with the implementation
Once I have a confirmation on the above questions, I will make the draft MR ready to review.
Awesome, thanks, @rkadam3! I added a text suggestion in my comment above. Essentially, I think what you have in the screenshot is great for "general links" (not Slack or Zoom), but I wonder if it's worth adding that it's a Slack or a Zoom link, when we detect that that's where the link will direct users to? That would follow our current pattern, where we mention Zoom specifically, and I think that works pretty well?
@abellucci - Scheduling it for 15.4. Please let me know if this is a mistake. I have an MR ready, waiting on some questions, should be good to go once those are answered. I can get it merged by end of this week.
