Provide guidance for project admins on how to best tailor their content for Search Engines
Problem statement
GitLab takes the values provided from the General Settings page (Side Menu >> Settings > General) and populates various HTML tags in the template that is read by Search Engines and used for ranking the URL in their listings.
There are currently no guidelines to help project admins know whether they are adhering to common SEO best practices and helping them understand how the values could impact their search engine listing.
Job to be done
- Add an expanding section on the General Settings page for SEO that will show the user how the values from the settings page are used in the page templates and how it could impact their search engine listing.
- The SEO section should include a preview of a possible search engine listing (e.g. https://technicalseo.com/tools/google-serp-simulator/)
- It should also list warnings when the content provided does not conform to SEO best practice (e.g. content length).
