Sync a child work item's iteration with its parent's iteration

Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.

Problem

It's cumbersome to manually keep the iteration in sync with a parent work item.

Proposal

Due to the nature of iterations as a short-lived timebox, if a parent has an iteration, the default behavior should be that the child's iteration is synced to the parent's iteration.

Acceptance

  • If a work item has a parent, and that parent has an iteration, then the child's iteration value should be set to that of the parent work item's iteration.
  • If the parent's iteration is updated and the child is still open, it should automatically update the child's iteration.
  • If the parent's iteration is updated and the child is closed, it should not automatically update the child's iteration.
