Update the SaaS trial copy to be dynamic depending on the trial type

Problem

While SaaS users can only create Gold trials in-app, the sales team can manually create Bronze and Silver trials. Our active/expired trial copy currently is hardcoded referencing their previous Gold trial, this can lead to user confusion if they actually trialed Bronze or Silver while working with the sales team. We also have future work planned to test the demand for Bronze and Silver trials in-app.

TrialCopy

Solution

We should update the trial tier value which in the screenshot is "Gold" to be dynamic based on the tier of the expired SaaS trial. When this issue is resolved the active/expired trial copy will dynamically reference the trial type Bronze Silver or Gold depending on what type of trial the namespace previously had. We should make this adjustment on the following pages:

  • Group billing page: gitlab.com/groups/(group-name)/-/billings
  • Personal billing page: gitlab.com/profile/billings

Copy:

  • Active trial: Your GitLab.com (trial tier Bronze,Silver,Gold) trial will expire after 2019-11-11. You can retain access to the Gold features by upgrading below.
  • Expired trial: Your GitLab.com (trial tier Bronze,Silver,Gold) trial expired on 2019-11-11. You can restore access to the Gold features at any time by upgrading below.
