Code review UX synthesis

Regarding code review in GitLab, as part of the work done for the competitive analysis in #27600 (closed) and to help us prioritize pain points and possible differentiation, I put together this Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YBA3ieCAy2YJlkvU7botcfj2-76TmspEWpwcQiiPcuA/edit?usp=sharing

It synthesizes a lot of information from previous customer interviews, UX research findings, literature (academic and non-academic), and competitors, into the following sections:

  1. Goals
  2. Roles
  3. Design considerations
  4. Pain points
  5. Differentiation
  6. Ideas (that address the pain points and differentiation)
  7. Literature
  8. Competition

This has all culminated in a short visual story that shows what merge requests and code review in GitLab may be in the future. You can check the low-fidelity mockups (also know as “wireframes”) directly:
